Patrick Mahomes dad was born on August 9, 1970. While in high school, Mahomes Sr. was a three-sport athlete in high school – He was a Major League Baseball pitcher, and he also played football and basketball at Lindale High School, Texas.

The elder Patrick did not begin pitching until his senior year of high school, following an injury to a teammate. He initially signed to play baseball at the University of Arkansas, declining both football and basketball scholarship offers from Division I programs.

He was then drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the sixth round of the 1988 MLB Draft and chose to go pro right out of high school.

He made his Major League debut in 1992 with the Twins, playing for them for 5 good years before being traded to the Boston Red Sox.

He spent two seasons with the Red Sox before being released. Mahomes Sr. went ahead to Japan, playing for the Yokohama BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball for 2 years.

He returned to the Majors two years later, playing for the New York Mets from 1999 to 2000. He then had year-long stints with the Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and concluded his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In 2003, Mahomes Sr. was sent down to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds and bounced around the minors and independent baseball for the next seven years before retiring following the 2009 season. An interesting fact is that Patrick Sr. initially tried to steer his son from football to baseball.

He had concerns about the brutality of the game which could take a toll on his son. The quarterback followed in his father’s footsteps and played baseball as well.

He threw a no-hitter during his senior year at Whitehouse High School and was a top prospect for the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. The Detroit Tigers selected him in the 37th round, but he did not sign as he was already committed to Texas Tech and wanted to pursue a football career.

Patrick Mahomes mother, Randi Martin was born on January 18, 1976, in Tyler, Texas to Randy Martin and Debbie Bates Martin. Her father, Randy, was a school principal, so he prioritized his kids’ education before anything. She graduated high school from Texas High School with good academic performance.

Randi is the youngest of three siblings. She has an older brother named Joey Martin and two older sisters named Jill Herrington and Lori Deal. She married Patrick Sr. in the late ’90s and gave birth to Patrick on September 17, 1995.

The two remain extremely close, even as the quarterback entered superstardom. Randi often says that her son Patrick is a blessing and that he is a responsible son and a loving brother to both his siblings.

Randi is very protective of her children, and she hates it when people make fun of Patrick’s voice.

Randi once expressed her frustration at Monday Night Football announcers after they kept referring to her son as “Pat” during the broadcast. She tweeted:

“If this announcer doesn’t stop calling my son Pat.. ugh i may scream… lol #help @ESPNNFL @espn.

Word of her tweet eventually reached the booth in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs’ 34-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens. ESPN analyst Louis Riddick said on the air, laughing:

“Guilty, guilty, guilty. I apologize, Patrick.”

Randi, just like Pat Sr., may have also influenced his son’s athletic career. She was very high on the academic side of things for her son and always made sure to remind him that “student” came first before “athlete”.

When it was time for Patrick to make a decision on whether to declare for the MLB draft or to take a college football scholarship, Patrick Mahomes mum was there. Although she did not dictate his decision, she reminded him of the great opportunity a college education presented for him.

Randi is additionally a mum to Patrick’s two younger siblings, his brother Jackson Mahomes and sister Mia Randall.

In a previous interview, Patrick Mahomes’ mum gushed about how her son is truly living the dream. She once told KSHB:

“It’s truly been a blessing…I tell him that all the time. [It’s] a blessing that, you know, little boys dream about. He’s gotten to actually live a dream. So, you know, we take it – I take it one day at a time and try to enjoy it. It is a little overwhelming.”

Patrick Mahomes fiancee and baby

The quarterback proposed to his longtime girlfriend and fitness guru Brittany Matthews in the summer of 2020. His mom Randi took to Twitter to celebrate the great news after her son proposed on the night of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring ceremony.

“My family is growing!! Congrats @brittanylynne8 @PatrickMahomes. ….love you!! Let the wedding planning begin,” Randi posted along with a photo of the newly engaged couple.

The football player and his fiancée, Brittany Matthews are expecting their first child. Patrick made the announcement on social media on 30th September 2020, posting a photo of them holding up an ultrasound.

The two have been together for a few years now, and the blonde beauty is always featured on Patrick’s Instagram.
