Orrin Hatch Obituary: Orrin Grant Hatch was an American lawyer, politician, and composer who represented Utah in the United States Senate from 1977 to 2019.

He was born in the United States on March 22, 1934, in Homestead, Pennsylvania.

Hatch graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in history in 1959.

Hatch graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with a J.D. in 1962.

Hatch was a sponsor or co-sponsor of over 750 bills that became law during his career.

He held numerous leadership posts in the Senate, including Chairmanships of three important Senate Committees.
