Marie Dressler, known officially as Leila Marie Koerber, was a Canadian comedian and actress who won the Best Actress in the 1931 Academy Awards.

Marie acted in a number of movies and notable of them include Min and Bill, Dinner at Eight, Tugboat Annie, Anne Christie, Emma, The Patsy, Christopher Bean, Prosperity, and others.

How Did Marie Dressler Die? Marie Dressler was born on November 9, 1868, and died on July 28, 1934, at the age of 65 years. Marier died of terminal cancer.

According to reports, although Marie was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she never knew it herself.  Louis Mayer, the then head of MGM, a film-making firm told the doctor not to disclose the result of the diagnosis to Marie.
