Julia Pollak: Who Is Rhoda Kadalie’s Daughter?

Julia Pollak: Rhoda Kadalie was a former South African Human Rights Commissioner and a South African academic.

Joan Kadalie and Fenner Kadalie welcomed her into the world on September 22, 1953, in Cape Town.

David Kadalie, Charles Kadalie, Reuben Kadalie, Paul Kadalie, Thomas Kadalie, Bruce Kadalie, Patrick Kadalie, and Judith Kadalie are her eight siblings.

In 1973, Kadalie established the University of the Western Cape’s Gender Equity Unit.

Kadalie was an ardent participant in the anti-apartheid movement.

She worked as a commissioner of the South African Human Rights Commission in President Nelson Mandela’s cabinet after the country gained democracy.



She formerly worked as a director at the Impumelelo Centre for Social Innovation, a non-profit that promotes public-private partnerships in low-income areas.

Kadalie also contributed to several newspapers as a columnist.

Rhoda Kadalie died in Los Angeles on April 16, 2022, at the age of 68.
