How did Andy Devine die: Andrew Vabre Devine was an American character actor best known for his raspy, crackly voice and appearances in Western films, including 10 feature films as Cookie, Roy Rogers’ sidekick.

Devine died of leukemia on February 18, 1977, in Orange, California, at the age of 71. The Holy Family Cathedral hosted his funeral mass. At the funeral, actor Ken Curtis sang a song.

Andy Devine Avenue was renamed after him in his hometown of Kingman. The Mohave Museum of History and Arts in Kingman has a display about his work, and he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
