Dionne Warwick, an American singer, television host, and former Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization was born on December 12, 1940.

Based on her chart history on Billboard’s Hot 100 pop singles list, Warwick ranks among the top 40 biggest US hitmakers between 1955 and 1999.

Warwick is one of the most successful female vocalists of all time, having charted 56 singles on the Hot 100 (12 in the Top Ten) between 1962 and 1998, and 80 records in total – solo or cooperatively – on the Hot 100, R&B, and adult contemporary charts.

Dionne Warwick was married twice in her life, to actor and musician William Elliott on both occasions.

William David Elliott was an American actor and jazz guitarist who lived from June 4, 1934, to September 30, 1983. Elliott was born in the city of Baltimore in the state of Maryland. He served in the US Navy as an electrician for four years.

In the mid-1960s, Elliot married Dionne, his backing vocalist, and they had two boys, David and Damon. He divorced her Warwick and then remarried her. In 1975, they divorced for the second time, ending a ten-year marriage.
