Dawie de Villiers Dead: David Jacobus de Villiers was a former Springbok rugby captain and ordained priest in the Dutch Reformed Church. He was also a South African Government minister.

Dawie de Villiers graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1960 with a degree in Theology and honors in Philosophy, and served as President of the Student Council from 1962 to 1963. Dawie de Villiers Dead

Dawie de Villiers was a part-time philosophy lecturer at the University of the Western Cape from 1963 to 1964, receiving the Abe Bailey and Markotter scholarships.

From 1967 until 1969, Dawie de Villiers was the pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church’s Wellington congregation. He went on to become a lecturer at the Rand Afrikaans University after that (RAU). Dawie de Villiers Dead

Dawie de Villiers obtained a scholarship to study abroad after completing his MA in philosophy in 1972.

Dawie de Villiers excelled in rugby (scrumhalf position) and participated in all levels of the sport, including 25 test matches for South Africa.

Dawie de Villiers’ first international test match was in 1962 against the British Lions, aged 22.



In 1970, Dawie de Villiers captained the Springboks against New Zealand.

Sadly, Dawie de Villiers died on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the age of 81.

Even though a cause of death was not given, his family said in a statement that he had been ill for sometime.

“Dawie has been systematically deteriorating over the last few months, but we were privileged to be able to provide him with the assistance of professional help at home,” the statement said. Dawie de Villiers Dead

Dawie de Villiers leaves behind his wife Suzaan Mangold and children; have three daughters and a son.
