Dr. David Heward-Mills died in the United States at the age of 31 after a brief illness.

His death was announced to church members in a circular.

“It is with great regret and sadness that we announce David Heward-Mills’ untimely death following a brief illness. “Our Founder and Presiding Bishop’s first son was David.”

“We, too, as a church, are heartbroken; yet, we stand with our leader and his family, trusting that God will comfort and guide us through this trying time.”

“During this difficult moment, please respect their privacy. “Funeral arrangements will be communicated as soon as possible,” the church’s communication stated.

David worked as a resident physician at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina, for over two years.

He was a Research Physician at the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston.
