The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is currently holding Isaiah Lee on a single felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. His bail has been set at $30,000. The reason behind Lee’s attack is unknown. The location of his residence and whether he attended the show alone are unknown to police.
As Chappelle joked about having to tighten up his security after making trans jokes at the Netflix is a Joke festival, Lee stormed the stage. The attacker was armed with a gun that disguised a knife, according to the cops. It’s unclear whether he was searched when he entered the stadium or how he got on stage.
Chappelle escaped injury and resumed his program.
