Jones was born on the 1st of January, 1938. She worked as a television and radio host for more than 50 years, winning numerous accolades in both local and international media categories.

Jones began her career in the media with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Canberra’s “This Day Tonight.” She was the show’s first female host when it debuted in 1963.

Jones was a familiar face and voice on radio and television series such as Four Corners and The Search For Meaning.

Jones hosted the weekly show Australian Story on ABC television in 1996.

Jones collaborated with Aboriginal broadcasters at Central Australian Aboriginal Media in Alice Springs at one point, and her collaboration with them earned her the title of Ambassador for Reconciliation from the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation in 1998.
