Angela Bassett Marie Laveau – Like what Abraham Lincoln once said: you can’t trust everything you see on the internet. Recently, there’s been a poster floating around for a new American Horror Story series all about one the most beloved Coven characters, Angela Bassett’s Marie Laveau. Sadly we’re here to report that series isn’t real; and that Laveau isn’t coming to Hulu on August 14. But it’s not all bad news.
Ever since Bassett took on the role of the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans she’s enchanted American Horror Story fans. Marie Laveau was just as fearless and cutthroat as the witch coven’s Supreme, Jessica Lange’s Fiona Goode, but she had no time for anyone’s games. She only appeared to torture the racist and horrible Madame Delphine LaLaurie (Kathy Bates) for murdering her lover and to warn anyone who would listen not to trust Papa Legba. And of course she preformed some sweet spells while dropping all of these truth bombs.

There’s no doubt that a Marie Laveau spinoff series would be all sorts of badass. The woman is practically begging for an origin series. But the poster that’s been making rounds on the internet is a fan made one. So far Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuck, and FX have said nothing about this particular miniseries.
Despite the bad news, there is hope. Earlier this month queen Angela Bassett was asked on Twitter if she would be open to a Laveau spinoff series, and she endorsed the idea. Angela Bassett Marie Laveau
Also, an American Horror Story spinoff is already in development. American Horror Stories will be an anthology series that will tell a new story every episode instead of a new story every season. Even if one of those episodes isn’t devoted to Marie Laveau, that’s still a really good sign. Merely the existence of American Horror Stories along with the Apocalypse season of the horror drama proves that its creators are open to expanding their warped universe. Here’s hoping that expansion continues to include the Voodoo Queen. It just won’t be happening on August 14.
