According to a statement from the foreign affairs office, “The Tahbaz family have confirmed Morad has been released from Evin prison on furlough and is at their house in Tehran.”

“Morad is a tri-national, and we continue to work closely with the United States to urge the Iranian authorities to grant him a visa to leave Iran and grant him a permanent release,” the statement reads.

Tahbaz was detained in 2018 and given a 10-year prison term after being accused of serving as a spy for the United States government.

He had already been freed in March 2022, but after two days he was sent back to prison.

His final publication comes in response to the EU’s foreign policy proposal to reinstate the 2015 Iran nuclear deal that Donald Trump terminated when he was the president of the United States.

Tahbaz was born in London and is a citizen of the United Kingdom.

The Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation counts him as a co-owner (PWHF). American Businessman Morad Tahbaz
